By the looks of it, it’s still winter. The 20 inches of snow on the ground from last night will probably be around for some time. What we want to know is how did you keep up your training during SnOMFGeddon 2010? Did you opt for the 4 hour snow shovel workout? Did you hit the roads and do some snow plow motorpacing?  Did you stay home and create a stockpile of homemade bagels? Leave your story or links to photos in the comments.  Best story/photo wins a high five.

  1. Ben :

OK I’ll start. I did indeed shovel snow for 4 hours even though I always park on the street and never need to use the driveway. Then I rode my rollers for 1 hour while watching Cervelo Testteam videos from bartape.net. Pow!

  2. I rode to the coffee shop for internet access and over to Rowley’s house to demonstrate what a whimp he was being. Did not ride today, I need to get a fender from the shop tomorrow.

  3. Brett Rothmeyer :

I hiked around Highland Park with my snowboard dropping in on some steep snow covered streets. Then capped the day off with a few hours of shoveling the driveway. I would say mostly zone 2 to 3 all day.

@Brett: Many years ago, I actually learned to snowboard in highland park and schenley!

When the snow had first come down it was easy to ride around on the mountain bike. As the sidewalks were first cleared but not messy, it was easy to ride on them w/ the studded nokians.

Mostly I’ve just been having fun. February is totally not the time to be burning yourself out by forcing yourself to do workouts on the trainer.

I’ve gone XC skiiing for the first two times ever this year, and snowshoeing for the first time; Less snowboarding than previous years but still a decent amount; More time in the weight room than on the bike; and I’ve been reading a lot more this winter(7 books since the start of the new year! crazy…I usually only make it through 1 or 2 books a month). Throw in some inspirational cycling books and it gets me pumped (just finished major taylor – highly recommended).

btw, snowboarding apparently kicks your ass more than I thought, judging by my inability to hit the numbers I wanted to when I did get back on the trainer.
