Pittsburgh now has roller racing. 3 race series!
Iron City Bikes and Urban Velo are hosting a series of ROLLER RACES. Yes, roller races. What is a roller race? Imagine a seated sprint with your rear wheel on a roller, your front wheel in a fork mount and spinning up for 15 – 20 seconds. It is a lot harder than it sounds. They provide the fixed gear bikes. You just show up.
It is a 3 race series, with a series champion, prizes, and even a trophy. The events are being held at the new Over the Bar (OTB) Bicycle Cafe on the Southside.
The first event of the series will be March 21st at 7pm.
2518 E Carson Street
There will be deejays, cheering, lots of people, and there is the rumor of 1 dollar pabst pounders always available. Rumor has it that it is a fund raiser for the Iron City Bikes cycling team.
